“This portrait shows me taking a selfie during chemotherapy. My strongest memories are: my view through the hospital window when I was admitted for neutropenic sepsis, the end of treatment bell which I longed to ring and the injections; 52 in total which I had to give myself daily during chemotherapy. The background flowers and hearts are sketched from a Mother’s day card from my Son and Daughter and I am grateful to be able to wallow in the glory of motherhood after a struggle to still be here. I like how this sketch is both real and surreal at the same time. This is how cancer feels to me.”
Love the honesty and imagery in this well done x
