You are invited to the opening night of the Breast Cancer Art exhibition at the University of Cambridge, at the New Hall Art Collection gallery at Murray Edwards College, Sunday 3rd Feb 2019, 7-9.30pm!!
This exhibition is not just about breast cancer, it’s about the human spirit, facing and overcoming life’s struggles, it’s our stories of fear and pain, but also of hope and courage. There will be some incredible artwork from not only the UK, but Puerto Rico, USA and Australia, as well as some existing artworks from the New Hall Collection that relate to our theme.
19.00: Exhibition opens with refreshments on arrival
19.45: Speeches from Adriana Ford, founder & curator of the Breast Cancer Art Project, Susan Olivera, our international arts coordinator (flying all the way from Puerto Rico!), and Miranda Nicholson, arts history student and head curator of this exhibition. Plus poetry readings and guided tours of the artworks.
Tickets are £9 for adults and £5 for concession, and includes drinks and nibbles.
Proceeds from the exhibition will go to exhibition costs and the Breast Cancer Art Project. As the exhibition coincides with Cambridge Pink Week, any optional donations will go to their seven Pink Week charities (Breast Cancer Care, Breast Cancer Haven, Breast Cancer Now, Coppafeel, Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust, Teens Unite Against Cancer, Victoria’s Promise).
Some of the works from the exhibition along with and Cambridge Pink Week merchandise will be on sale at the Opening Night so please bring cash! For more information on Pink Week merchandise, please visit the Pink Week website: https://www.cambridgepinkweek.com.
