“Taken from a 1930’s handbook on sizing and measurements for the tailoring industry. I was interested in the similarities between the reconstruction of the female form in dressmaking and the recovery of self during convalescence.”
I’m an artist and printmaker living in the North East of England. I was diagnosed with breast cancer 10 years ago. Whilst having treatment I collected my interior images from the CT scans and MRI’s. I had an idea that these images could help me to process what was happening and help me to reconstruct my sense of self, post treatment. The creative act has always been a useful tool to understand the inner world and to help reflect some of the complicated emotions, which a cancer diagnosis produces.
