“When I was first diagnosed, one of my predominant thoughts in all the confusion was “Why me?” After some research I realised that the statistics for breast cancer were very high and, gradually, I started to think “Why not me?” This piece emerged from that transitional process.”

About Cath:

“I’m an artist and printmaker living in the North East of England. I was diagnosed with breast cancer 10 years ago. Whilst having treatment I collected my interior images from the CT scans and MRI’s. I had an idea that these images could help me to process what was happening and help me to reconstruct my sense of self, post treatment. The creative act has always been a useful tool to understand the inner world and to help reflect some of the complicated emotions, which a cancer diagnosis produces.”
