A Less Than Perfect Life

By Amy Gutcher

This is Amy’s first drawing in 20 years, after being inspired by the Breast Cancer Art Project! Here is the story behind the drawing….

“I’ve been thinking a lot recently while having chemo about how my life feels ‘less than perfect’ now – even though, of course, it never was perfect… The picture is of my left hand and wrist, where all my chemo goes in. My hands were always my best feature, but now…less than perfect…my left is bruised and has bumps and marks from all the cannulas from chemo. But even though it is less than perfect, it is still one of my favourite things about my body.”
