You’ll be the death of me

By Amabel Mortimer

“This painting is the body with all the procedures I’ve had on it. It is based on the front cover of Germain Greers female eunuch, as losing my womb ovaries, cervix and potentially breast was how I felt. It also signifies the trauma a woman’s body is put through. It is painted on top of a printed obituaries column as I wanted to illustrate the transient nature of life and the fear of my own mortality.”
